The presentation, which was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, marked the end of months of fundraising by Rene Knott, Gledfield, and her extended family who hosted various events and undertook a number of sponsored activities.

The fundraising was in memory of Rene’s sister, Rhona MacFarlane, Ardgay, a Poppy Appeal volunteer for more than 30 years.

Mrs Knott said: “Since the soup and sweet we held in October, we have added to our total by selling squares to win a knitted soft toy, squares to win £100 and by selling knitted poppies which were very popular.

"Once again we are absolutely overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness in helping us to raise this magnificent total and can not thank everyone enough."
