Sutherland coastguard teams called out to go to aid of woman (70) on beach

A woman was airlifted to hospital after becoming injured on a remote North West Highland beach.

Achiltibuie, Lochinver and Ullapool coastguard rescue teams and the coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Stornoway all responded to reports of the injured 70-year-old on Garvie Beach in Enard Bay at around 4pm on Sunday.

She had suffered a significant shoulder injury.

The casualty was taken by helicopter to Stornoway Airport and transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. She was taken to Western Isles Hospital around 7.30pm. Her condition is unknown.
