Support for Dornoch Bowling Club's funding application

An application by Dornoch Bowling Club for funding from the town’s Common Good Fund, is being supported by Dornoch Area Community Council.

The bowling club is seeking £1000 towards “top dressing” and fertilising its new bowling green and £3000 to build a small section of wall.

The bowling club, sited close to Royal Dornoch Golf Club, has been moved four metres to the east in order to make way for an extension of the golf club’s car parking area.

“The golf club wished to widen the access road and to do so needed to move the bowling green, which has been done,” the bowling club said.

“To complete the driveway project, the bowling club have to pay for a small piece of wall matching the wall being built by the golf club.”

Community Council chairman Patrick Murray said: “The bowling club is very well established and I think they are a really great club.”

The bowling club is open to all ages and all abilities.

Applications for funding to Dornoch Common Good Fund are decided by Sutherland County Committee in consultation with Dornoch Area CommunityCouncil.

Grants totalling £9,921 were paid out during the first quarter of 2022 including £5,789 for new Christmas lights for the town.
