New season lambs (302) averaged 229.6p (+9.6p) and sold to 246.9p per kg for a pen of 49kg Texel Crosses from Inveruglas Farm, Kingussie selling to Messrs Fraser Brothers, Butchers, Dingwall and £134 gross for a 71kg Zwartble from The Paddock, Druim Temple Croft.

SQQ 25.5kg to 45.5kg (145) averaged 233.3p (+15.3p) per kg.

Feeding sheep (219) sold to £168 gross for a Texel Ram from Achtemerack, Drumnadrochit.

The verdict: “Lamb trade looks to have turned a corner for the time being as trade, like all centres yesterday, was dearer despite not a lot of meat being around.

"Likewise with the ewes a much stronger trade was witnessed and many more are required on a weekly basis to satisfy buyers' demands.”
