Stricken Kinlochbervie boat in nine-hour rescue operation

A rescue operation was launched yesterday after a Sutherland fishing boat broke down 28 miles off the Butt of Lewis.

The stricken Kinlochbervie-based Loch Inchard III had a seven strong crew on board at the time.

The coastguard emergency tug Ievoli Black was involved in the rescue.

An alarm was raised and Stornoway lifeboat was launched at 8.20am on Wednesday to go to the aid of the stranded vessel.

It took the boat in tow before handing over to the coastguard emergency tug Ievoli Black.

The tug then towed the 20m long Loch Inchard 111 to Stornoway.

The rescue took nine hours to complete.
