The cargo ship Wilson Corinth that suffered a loss of power off Cape Wrath early today is being taken under tow by the Coastguard tug Ievoli Black and is destined for Kirkwall with an estimated arrival time of 9am tomorrow.

Due to forecast weather conditions and expected high seas off the north and west of the Orkney Islands, the tow will route east through the Pentland Firth, tackling the channel between 11pm and 2am.

There are eight people on board the stricken Wilson Corinth, which is carrying coal.
