Strath Oykel road closed due to flooding risk ahead of Storm Isha

Highland Council have confirmed that the Strath Oykel road (U2126) has been closed ahead of Storm Isha alerts and yellow weather warnings for heavy rain.

The Met Office currently have a yellow alert in place for rain, along with amber warnings for strong winds due to take effect from 6pm until 6am.

The local authority have advised motorists to use diversions which are in place via the A837 Rosehall to Invershin route, the A836 between Invershin and Ardgay, and the C1136 road from Ardgay via Culrain, to Brae.

A spokesperson for Highland Council said: "The U2126 Strath Oykel Road has been closed due to flooding risk in accordance with the current flood alert and weather warnings.

"The road closure signs have been activated and will remain in place until further notice.

"Diversion via A837 Rosehall - Invershin, the A836 Invershin - Ardgay and the C1136 Ardgay - Culrain - Brae roads is now in operation."
