Highland Council has done a dramatic U-turn over the sale of a redundant Sutherland primary.
The authority had put the 125-year-old Stoer school on the open market with offers over £160,000 invited.
It even went so far as to hold an open day for potential purchasers last Tuesday.
A schedule stated that the building offered the potential to be "converted into an impressive dwelling or tourism related business".
But the stone-built property has now been withdrawn from sale following accusations that the council had 'gone back on its word' by not first offering it first to the community.
A Highland Council spokesman told the Northern Times today: "Following discussion with the local development trust, the council has withdrawn the property from the market to consider options including affordable housing."
