Brora Post Office is moving temporarily to new premises.

The community was set to lose its permanent post office a week today, September 3, following the resignation of postmaster Andrew Smith who operated out of gift shop Kelpies Treasure.

But now it has been announced that a temporary post office will open twice a week in a new location in the village.

The service is to be hosted for the time being by Steps Emporium on Victoria Road opposite Station Square.

The post office will open for the first time in its new premises on Thursday, September 9, at 10am and thereafter will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm.

Post Office Network Provision Lead David Duff said: "We know how important a post office is to a community and we are delighted to be restoring a temporary service in Brora whilst a permanent solution is progressed."

Mr Duff added that an applicant had registered an interest in offering a permanent service.

The nearest post office branches to Brora are at Golspie and Helmsdale.

A mobile service operated in Brora for around three years until eight months ago when the post office opened in Kelpies Treasure.
