After being reroofed in January, Berriedale Church aims to have further repairs with a new 'community window' sponsorship scheme.

The Berriedale Church and Cemetery Association (BCCA) aims to make the building wind and watertight and after the new roof was finished on January 27 the group intends to repair the building's windows.

Michael Bullen from Rookery Glass will start work on restoring the windows, one pane of glass at a time, in September.

To help fund these works BCCA has decided to have a community window where people can buy a pane of glass if they wish. Each of the six main church windows holds 188 diamond shaped panes.

The Association encourages individuals and local businesses to "buy" a pane for £35 and each of the donations will be acknowledged in a list of benefactors next to the window. More information on how to buy a pane can be found on the Association’s Facebook page.

The BCCA thanked Dunbeath photographer Angus Mackay for the aerial shots of the church that are reproduced here.

The committee will also be holding a ceilidh on October 27 in Berriedale Portland Hall to help raise funds for the project.
