The event was in aid of the Culrain and District Hall Building Maintenance Fund.

And it was a great success with local residents flocking to the hall to enjoy good food and neighbourly companionship.

The tables were groaning with a feast of Indian food - meat, prawn and vegan dishes were cooked and brought in by residents.

There were dishes to suit all palates from fiery lamb Rogan Josh for those who like a bit of kick to their food, and chicken Korma for diners whose taste buds veer towards less hot meals.

A hall spokesman said. "This inaugural curry lunch was very well attended by local residents who donated meals.

"A total of £115 was raised for Culrain and District Hall Building Maintenance Fund."

Members of the hall management committee were so delighted with the response to the curry lunch that they intend to hold another one next spring.

Social media users posted: "It was good fun and great food."
