Snowy weather continues to affect schools in Sutherland today with many closed or partially closed

Scores of schools across the Highlands are again being affected by the weather with many closed due to ice and snow.

Highland Council say seven secondary schools are closed, affecting 2,412 pupils.

In addition 52 primary schools will not operate today, affecting 4,521 pupils. Two special schools are closed and 42 nurseries.

Golspie High School posted on its social media page: "Due to dangerous road conditions Golspie High School will be closed today. Please could all pupils check Google classroom.

"Alternative arrangements for prelims will be put in place".

Ullapool High School says there is no transport from Lochinver/Stoer/Drumbeg this morning "due to treacherous icy conditions".

And Dornoch Academy has posted that, also due to road conditions, Mackay's buses are not running today.

MacLeod's Coaches, who take pupils from Bonar Bridge to Dornoch Academy have also cancelled the service this morning.
