The legendary Snowman rally is set to return to Dingwall for the third year in a row as Ross-shire's county looks set to enjoy a influx of motor racing fans and visitors through the popular event.

Since the town started staging the flagship local motorcar event after a pandemic-enforced absence it has proved a great success, all the more so after a local coup saw Dingwall replace Inverness as the host.

Since then it has become a firm local favourite as it attracts hundreds of rally fans as well as many onlookers on the day to see the sight and spectacle of the rally cars up close, proving a welcome boost to trade for the day.

In all around 90 cars will roar down the High Street on Saturday March 4 – usually it starts just after midday – for one of the stages but this year it is expected to be an even more impressive sight as the winners ceremony will also take place in the town just outside of the Town Hall.

Local area committee chairman Councillor Graham Mackenzie was once again instrumental it bringing the rally to the town was delighted with how the preparations have been going and is looking forward to the big day.

“I think it is great that Dingwall gets to host this event for several reasons," he said.

“First, it is a great day out for locals and visitors including the many who travel quite long distances to enjoy the event.

“Bringing people onto the High Street is always a great, but particularly at this time of the cost crisis, it gives everyone a buzz.

“I said in previous years that it brought a wee buzz to the town in the days before the event as people could see organisers get things in place and that is great.”
