Snow drifts slowing traffic to a crawl on A9

The A9 around Berriedale is experiencing congestion as traffic slows to a crawl due to the inclement weather across the county.

Highland News and Media reporter Jean Gunn said she was stuck on the north side of Berriedale Braes for close to an hour.

BEAR NW Trunk Roads tweeted at 4pm: "A9 Caithness area has localised snow drifts with reports of poor visibility. Bear Scotland NW continuing to work throughout."

Police Scotland also advises of hazardous driving conditions on the A9 this afternoon near Berriedale with "vehicles losing traction due to the adverse conditions".
