Low temperatures and snow and ice forecasts – with a yellow warning in place across the north of Scotland – are set to bring disruption to travel in the region today.

Several trains between Inverness and the Central Belt, among which the 8.38am train from Edinburgh to Inverness and the 2.50pm Inverness to Queen Street, will be terminating or starting at Perth, and disruption on the line is expected throughout the day.

Ferries will also be impacted with services between Ullapool and Stornoway and between Caithness and Orkney cancelled.

Road users travelling in the region are also advised to use caution due to the low temperatures and bus services throughout the region are als set to be impacted.

A yellow warning for snow and ice was issued yesterday by the Met Office and is set to last until Thursday (January 18).
