A fishing boat with seven people on board was rescued by a lifeboat today after a near seven hour operation.

Lochinver Lifeboat was launched at 2am after the stricken crabber Kingfisher suffered engine failure 35 miles north west of Cape Wrath in Sutherland.

The lifeboat eventually towed the 18-metre fishing vessel into the Kinlochbervie harbour area, arriving at 8.45am. The fishing boat's crew managed to restart the engine and anchored under their own power.
