WELL-WISHERS have launched a fighting fund to maintain the search for an Easter Ross man posted missing more than two weeks ago.

Shaun Banner (34) was last seen in Invergordon on Saturday, April 23 shortly after midnight.

Since then, extensive searches have been carried out with hundreds of members of the public joining the effort by charting routes they have checked either on foot or, in some cases, using drones.

Now, a gofundme page has been set up by supporter Siobhan Newlands of Invergordon.

She wrote: "We are raising money to support and widen the search for Shaun.

"Shaun has now been missing for over 2 weeks and in that time, with amazing support and kindness from the local community, hundreds of miles of beach, coastlines and shorelines have been searched on foot, by planes, drones, helicopters and boats but despite everyone's best efforts, we have still not been able to bring Shaun home to his family.

"It is vital for the family to have access to all of the above mentioned resources and even more where possible to ensure everything is being done to cover land and sea inaccessible by foot, as you can imagine the area that needs to be covered is vast.

"The coastguard are unable to offer any kind of assistance with conducting a search in the water; therefore, private companies with access to boats and water scanning equipment will need to be contacted.

"We want to ensure we are able to keep feet on the ground and planes, helicopters and drones in the sky for as long as we need them. We need more than ever, access to boats and a team who can conduct a water search."

She makes clear: any money raised will not be directly for the family of Shaun; it will be used for the sole purposes of searching.

The appeal continues: "The searches for Shaun will not conclude until we bring him home to his family, they need answers and there's a little girl missing her daddy.

"In the situation where searches are drawn to a conclusion and there is money left over, it will be donated to charities who have assisted and led the searches thus far."

The fundraiser's details can be found here.
