The village community of Brora came out in force to support several charities on March 29, with close to £700 raised at a coffee morning held by the local primary school.

Causes that will benefit from the funds raised include Highland Hospice, Brora Village Hub, East Sutherland Rotary's shelter box appeal and the school itself, towards the cost of buses for school trips.

A spokesperson for the school said: "We managed to raise £100 for Highland Hospice, £200 for Innes Mackay’s London Marathon run in aid of The Hub in Brora, £92 for the Rotary Shelter box appeal and nearly £300 towards the cost of buses for our school trips.

"It was so well attended with the older children helping to serve and clear. It is so lovely to be able to have the school at the heart of the community again after covid restrictions."

Mr Mackay said: "I was delighted to see that the children had managed to raise £200 and donated the money directly onto my page. Their efforts go to show how much the hub is valued by the community of Brora."
