General manager Neil Hampton said: “The Council of Management have decided that, in respect for the passing of the monarch and to allow everyone to pay their own respects, all of Royal Dornoch's facilities will be closed on Monday (September 19).

“Business will be conducted as normal until the end of Sunday, September 18, and then resume again on the morning of Tuesday, September, 20.

Mr Hampton added: “As a royal golf club, this is a very sad time for us all and I hope that people will take a moment or two on the day of the funeral for their own reflections on the life of the Queen”

The state funeral is to be held at 11.40am at Westminster Abbey - the historic church where Britain’s kings and queens are crowned.
