The second ceilidh of the year took place at Culrain and District Hall last Saturday and proved to be a lively event.

A good number of revellers energetically danced the night away to the rousing sound of the Rogart Dolls Ceilidh Band.

A full range of dances took place, including an entertaining elimination waltz, which saw Graham Charge, chairman of the hall management committee, the first to leave the floor.

Some amusing poetry was recited prior to tea being served – the refreshments were kindly provided by the Culrain community.

A raffle raised essential funds for the hall refurbishment project, and the evening culminated in a hearty rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

Mr Charge said: "These events are becoming increasingly popular and people are attending not just from the local community but from as far afield as Bonar Bridge, Arday, Rosehall, Edderton and even Tain."

The next event will be the King’s Coronation Ceilidh on Saturday, May 6, at which a band and piper will be playing.
