The glasses will be passed on to Golspie opticians Goskirk and Pettinger who will arrange for them to be sent to Vision Aid Overseas.

Founded in 1985 and registered in the United Kingdom, the charity provides optical aid and services to developing countries in Africa.

Its aim is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable eye care services and glasses.

Vision Aid sets up Vision Centres, working in partnership with groups on the ground in the various countries.

Rotarian Alistair Risk said: Please ransack your drawers and cupboards and hand the glasses to any Rotarian, Interactor or Rotakid.”

He added: “The condition the spectacles are in doesn’t matter and they don’t need to be in a case.”
