ROSS Sutherland Seniors Golf Society (RSSG Society) has donated £2000 to Highland and Moray mental health and suicide prevent charity Mikeysline.

The funds were raised by society members during the April to October season of fixtures and competitions at clubs affiliated to the society, which include Royal Dornoch, Bonar Bridge, Brora, Tain and Ullapool.

The donation brings the total raised for charity by the society since its foundation in 1983 to £40,000.

Ross Sutherland Seniors Golf Society captain, Ian McCree, said: “Our golf society members are so pleased to support Mikeysline in the vital range of support they undertake.

"We realise how important it is to have friends around through the good and not so good days."

Mikeysline's fundraising manager, Katie Melville, said: “This generous donation is so welcome, especially at a time when the cost of living crisis and the coming winter are already increasing demand for Mikeysline’s services and support. "

The golf society currently has a membership of just under 160 men aged 60 or over, and would welcome new members.

Its emphasis is on looking after the physical and mental wellbeing of members through regular exercise and a stableford golf outing is held at each of its affiliated golf clubs from April to October.
