Highland Council is advising drivers that a temporary road closure will be in operation on the Lairg to Rosehall stretch of the A839 for five weeks from Monday.

A stretch of the A839 at Lairg-Rosehall will close from 9am-5pm each day from Monday, February 22 to Wednesday, March 31.
A stretch of the A839 at Lairg-Rosehall will close from 9am-5pm each day from Monday, February 22 to Wednesday, March 31.

The route will be closed from 9am to 5pm each day from its junction with the A837 Invershin - Lochinver Road, to its junction with Achany wind farm access road.

The closure is necessary to allow for deep structural patching and overlays to single track sections of road with narrow and soft verges.

Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and vehicles employed to carry out the works, whilst pedestrian access, refuse collection and school transport will be controlled.

To avoid the road closure, alternative routes will be available via the A837 Invershin - Lochinver Road, and the A836 Dornoch Bridge - Tongue - John O'Groat's road.
