The team, who called themselves “The Highlanders” collectively raised £3,280 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Each of the women had to raise £250 to take part in the hike.

They have thanked everyone who supported the challenge.

The quartet hiked a 13-mile route, which had an ascent of 1,685 feet, from Callander to Balquhidder.

The route is part of the Rob Roy Way, a long-distance footpath created in 2002 and taking its name from Scottish 18th century folk hero Roy MacGregor.
