IT may be a tiny, rural Sutherland school, but that does not mean that it can’t have big plans.

The 23-pupil Rogart Primary School will have a busy term in the lead-up to Christmas with two exciting fundraising initiatives on the table.

Pupils are working on compiling a new recipe book of favourite recipes and also a map and leaflet outlining walks in the area.

The school already has a formidable track record in fundraising projects - its Crofters’ Calendar last year was a huge success with local households clamouring to purchase it.

Rogart Primary School’s recently appointed head teacher was present at Rogart Mart’s first ever craft sale last Saturday to tell people about the two fundraisers.

Sarah Evans has relocated from Orkney to take up the cluster head role at Rogart and Golspie primary schools.

Ms Evans said the school was inviting home cooks in its area to share their favourite recipe.

She said: “Rogart Primary School would like to produce a book full of recipes from members of the school community.

“If you would like to share a family favourite to be included, then we would be delighted. All profits will go to the school.”

Meanwhile the school has joined forces with others towards producing a walk map and leaflets.

Pupils and staff are working with community groups and landowners on the project.

Rogart Primary School Parent Teacher Association is also working hard and has organised a couple of upcoming fun events.

A Kids Spooktacular Halloween Party takes place tomorrow at the village hall from 4pm-6pm.

And a Christmas Fete and Auction is being held in the hall on Saturday, November 26.
