A para-athlete from Sutherland has been selected to represent Great Britain in Nordic skiing at the Beijing Paralympics.
An excited Hope Gordon from West Langwell, Rogart, announced on her social media page that she had been chosen to join the Nordic Ski Team.
Her selection has been officially confirmed by ParalympicsGB.
The 26-year-old, who previously achieved prominence in canoeing, made her skiing competition debut at the end of January in the World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer, Norway.
Former Rogart Primary School pupil Hope, who had her left leg amputated as a result of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, posted: “I can’t quite believe I get to say this…. So proud to officially be announced in the Nordic skiing team to represent Paralympics GB in Beijing.
“Sometimes you just need to say yes. A few months ago I said yes to an exciting opportunity to try out cross country skiing.
“Initially I just thought it would be a really fun form of training to benefit my boats. The past wee while has been a whirlwind, a bit bonkers, but such a fun adventure into this sport.
“So far I’ve had eight weeks on snow, I certainly never imagined that at this stage I’d be lining up against the best in the world at a Paralympics.
“I will also be the first ever female to represent ParalympicsGB within Nordic skiing - girl power!
“A huge thank you to everyone who has made this happen, especially GBSnowsport, GBPara Nordic, and everyone at British canoeing.
“Ready or not, let’s go to the Paralympics!"
