The newly reformed Rogart Community Council has called an open meeting to gauge the feeling of local people about St Callan’s.

The Church of Scotland intends to put the category-B listed building on the market as part of a review of its property portfolio across Scotland.

St Callan’s is one of 12 churches across Scotland set to be “disposed of” over the next few years.

However, Rogart Community Council was told at a meeting in September that the congregation was keen to keep the church and was seeking community support to do so.

It was felt at that point that a community meeting should be held to try to find out the views of local people.

Tomorrow’s meeting is taking place at Pittentrail Hall from 7.30pm.

A community council spokesperson said: “The Church of Scotland has announced its intention to close St Callan’s and sell it off by the end of 2024.

“All those who wish to see a future for the building as a community asset are invited to come along. If you are unable to join us, you can email your comments and ideas to: stcallans1@gmail.com"
