Father Christmas will be visiting Dornoch and Camore on Saturday thanks to a bit of help from East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA).

Accompanied by his elves, Santa will make his appearance in the county town between 6pm and 8pm, on the back of the association's lifeboat.

A spokesman for the group said: "Santa got in touch with us to say how sad he was that he couldn't visit our grotto this year and get his rum in our lifeboat.

"So ESRA got their thinking caps on and decided to take Santa on a wee tour of Dornoch and Camore so he could see all the children before Christmas, socially distanced, of course."

The festive party is expected to start out from and return to the town Square.

From the Square, they will head up Schoolhill, round Bishopfield and down Stafford Road.

Then they will make their way down Elizabeth Crescent, turning round at Morrison Court.

The route back down will take them through Stafford Road and Kennedy Avenue and on to the Square.

Then it will be up Castle Street and Sutherland Road, round Ross Avenue and Dean's Park before going up and round Rowan Crescent, out to Camore and returning to Dornoch. Donations will be collected on the way.
