'A grade trade' at Dingwall Mart rare and minority breeds livestock sale

Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd last Friday oversaw the sale of 29 goats, two alpacas and 872 sheep at their rare and minority breeds livestock sale with some 'A grade trade' along the way.

Goats (29) sold to £270 gross for a Pygmy from Mosstown of Craigellie, Fraserburgh.

Alpacas (2) sold to £500 gross for a pair of White Huacaya Alpacas from Meikle Geddes, Nairn.

Lambs (375) sold to £550 gross for a Badger Face ram lambs from Carnoch, Starthconon.

Ewes (166) sold to £160 gross for a pen of Kerryhill’s from 4 Clinton Drive, Fraserburgh.

Gimmers (107) sold to £500 gross for a Hebridean from 12 Victoria Crescent, Brora.

Rams (46) sold to £350 gross for a 2 shear Black Cheviot from 4 Morefield Brae, Ullapool.

Wedders (11) sold £110 gross for a Valis Blacknose from Broomlea House, Fearn.

In lamb ewes (116) sold to £200 for a Blue D’ Maine in lamb to a BFL from Wester Raddery, Fortrose.

In lamb gimmers (51) sold to £350 gross Black Cheviot in lamb to a black Cheviot from Seafield View, Mey.

The verdict: “The Dingwall annual rare breeds sale once again attracted a large crowd from all over the north of Scotland. A grade trade was witnessed for all classes of stock, however, the better bred and well-fed articles in any breed met a particularly firm enquiry. “
