AFTER a shock decision from local radio station MFR, radio DJ's Dan Gilchrist and Grace Nicoll are facing a future without their morning show, but are not letting that stop them from what they love.

The pair, who worked together on Dan and Grace in the Morning for four years, are putting their skills back into action by launching a brand new podcast after their popular show was axed in April.

The first episode of Dan and Grace, the monthly series, aired today exclusively on Nevis Radio, and will launch on Spotify on Sunday.

The pair are thrilled to be able to use their creativity and make the show their own and were comforted by the reaction of fans when the news was announced about their change of role.

Grace said the kindness of people has "been an eyeopener."

The pair continued: "We were gutted. We didn't want to stop. The reaction that we got when the news went out that we won't be doing the morning anymore was incredible. We took a step back and let the dust settle."

Their audience stretched from the Highlands to England, and even to Germany, fans who they hope follow along as they face a new future.

"A business said to us that we are too big to just stop. The podcast is something that we thought is going to be there for our listeners and it gives us a chance to catch up together," the pair added.

"It’s not the end. It's just the next chapter. For now it's something for our listeners to hold on to.”

This month's episode features a brand new track from accordianist and singer Brandon McPhee, something Dan and Grace are keen to continue.

The podcast slogan 'live, likeable and local' certainly rings true as the pair, who make nothing from the podcast, are pushing as many local songs and businesses as they can.
Dan continued: "That's the thing we are big about is local. The good thing about this is that its our decision now. We really want to push local musicians and events.

"The exciting part is being able to be as creative as we want and hopefully see the listeners that we had join us and gain new listeners. We are looking forward to getting out and about and enjoying what we do."

Dan also works as a firefighter in Fort Augustus, meanwhile Grace is hosting a guest spot on Radio One Mallorca and Nevis Radio.

The pair are available for event hosting, DJ'ing and quiz nights.
