Pupils at Melvich Primary School marked Remembrance Day by creating artwork featuring poppies, the enduring symbol of those who have given their lives in battle.

Teacher Anne Munro of Tongue worked with primary four to seven pupils on their remembrance themed artwork. Mrs Munro also held art sessions with pupils in primaries one to three.

Early years practitioners Ansley Ogg and Jayne Gordon helped pupils from the early learning centre to make a wreath.

The school’s wreath was later placed at the village war memorial.

Teacher Amanda Mackay said: “Due to the current restrictions, we were unable to gather at the war memorial as we normally do, but staff and pupils shared the two minute silence outdoors in the school playground.

P1-3 teacher and well-known piper, Carol-Anne Farquhar, played the “Flowers of the Forest” lament .
