A renewable energy company has told local residents that it is “exploring the potential” of developing a wind farm in the Bonar Bridge area.

Force 9 Energy has sent letters to local people saying it is looking at a site on land on Balblair Estate, about 2km north-west of Bonar Bridge.

The letter reads: “Our initial assessments for the site suggest it could accommodate a wind farm with energy storage, the combined output of which will be in excess of 50MW.”

The firm has submitted a request for a scoping opinion to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit for the proposed development.

Two public exhibitions on the proposed Balblair Wind Farm will be held at Invershin Hall on Tuesday March 5 from 12pm-2.30pm and at Bonar Bridge Hall on the same day from 4pm-8pm.

A project website www.balblairwindfarm.co.uk has been set up and will go live on March 5.
