The group has reached an arrangement with Highland Council to take over the dilapidated property which originally belonged to the YMCA.

East Sutherland and Edderton ward councillor Richard Gale, a Go Golspie trustee, said it had been decided that work should start at the rear of the property before moving on to the original hall at the front.

The area at the back was previously used by a local youth club and it is hoped that the club will be able to return to the accommodation as soon as possible.

Cllr Gale said Go Golspie was currently inviting quotes for the work which it was hoped would start in the next few weeks. The youth club area could be ready for use by September or October.
