Pressure eases at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after two 'very challenging' days

Bosses at an Inverness hospital said the pressure has now eased off after two intense days, with waiting times in accident and emergency much longer than usual.
NHS Highland warned that Raigmore Hospital faced intense pressure yesterday, with a number of patients requiring unexpected admission.
However, they said the situation had improved and the pressure has now partially eased off today.
Mike Hayward, deputy chief officer for acute services, said: "After two days of intense pressure I am pleased to say that Raigmore Hospital is more settled. My thanks to the staff for all their hard work during this very challenging time and I would also like to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding.
"While it is a much better picture today I would still appeal to everyone to ensure they use our services appropriately. If you need urgent care that is not life-threatening, call NHS24 on 111. NHS 24 will direct you to the most appropriate care."
Ward 6C, which covers general medicine, cardiology, diabetes, and endocrinology, was closed to new admissions last week due to a scabies outbreak and will remain closed as treatment continues.
