Portskerra Harbours Association delighted at MBE honour for retired community fund manager

The award of an MBE to a community fund manager has delighted the leaders of a Sutherland organisation.

Fiona Morrison, from Beauly, was well known across the county in her role as community fund manager for Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).

She retired in 2022 after 10 years of advising and guiding hundreds of groups through funding applications.

Ms Morrison was made an MBE in the King's New Year Honours for services to the people of the Highlands during her time at SSE.

Portskerra Harbours Association was one organisation that benefited from Ms Morrison's expertise and knowledge. She helped the association access funding for improvement work.

The group posted on their social medial page: "Glad to see Fiona Morrison has been made an MBE in the King's New Year's Honours list. Fiona was nominated by members of the community.

"She helped guide us through the process of securing funding for the Portskerra slip works on the car park and pier. Portskerra Harbours Association was one of 1,385 community projects Fiona was directly involved in. Her honour is well-deserved."
