It was a stunning and poignant sight.
A cascade of thousands of poppies tumbled down the hillside in front of Lairg War Memorial.
Knitters and crocheters from across the globe contributed poppies to mark the rededication of the war memorial on the 100th anniversary of its unveiling last Friday.
A group of more than 100 people who attended the event were led in by Piper Layla Dalton.
Among them were the relatives of those named on the memorial, members of the Royal British Legion Scotland and members of the Sutherland Lord Lieutenancy team along with representatives of local churches, local volunteers and many from the parish and further afield.
The service was led by Sandy Sutherland of Lairg Christian Fellowship and contributions were made by Rev Hilary Gardner, Jonathan Brett Young, Irene Grant, Deputy Lieutenant Sheila Stewart, Angela Sutherland and Rev Ben Fiddian.
Local children planted crosses one for each of the 65 names on the memorial (55 from World War I and 10 from World War II).
The poppy cascade will remain in place until Remembrance Day - Friday, November 11.
The service was live streamed and a video is available through the Lairg Sutherland Facebook.
