Police have welcomed the sentencing of men involved in a drugs operation in Easter Ross.
Police have welcomed the sentencing of men involved in a drugs operation in Easter Ross.

Three men have been sentenced after pleading guilty to being involved in the supply of drugs in the Highlands.

Alasdair Finlayson was yesterday sentenced to nine years at the High Court in Edinburgh after he was found to be in charge of the operation.

Daniel Degan (32) of Coach House Cottages, Alness, was fined £2000 and ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work after admitting being concerned in the supply of cocaine on July 31 in 2020.

Cameron Ross (22) formerly of Cromlet Park, Invergordon, was jailed for 23 months after admitting being concerned in the supply of cocaine between June 10 and 12 in 2020 at woodland off Glenglass Road in Evanton.

A fourth man, Ryan Ross (28) of Gateside, Balintore, was ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work under a community payback order and fined £2000 for acquiring and having possession of criminal property in sums of cash between July 13 and August 6 in 2020.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Ingram said: “We welcome the conviction of these four men which comes after a detailed investigation into their activity trafficking drugs for distribution in the Highlands.

“We are committed to making the Highlands a hostile place for anyone intent on supplying illegal drugs which causes nothing but harm in our communities.

“Investigations like this are driven by community intelligence from people who do not tolerate drugs and those intent on dealing them.

“Cases such as this show that our work ensures that those responsible will face the consequences of their actions and sends a strong message to dealers that we are committed to bringing them to justice.”
