Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road crash on the A9 around 7.25pm yesterday.

The accident involved a tractor towing a livestock trailer and a Ford Galaxy car on the trunk road at Culboke.

Both drivers were taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. The 63-year-old male tractor driver has been released but the driver of the Ford Galaxy, who is aged 52, remains in hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said that the animals in the trailer were uninjured and officers wanted to thank local farmers who helped remove the cows and sheep safely.

An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of the crash.

Anyone who may have seen it or the vehicles prior to the incident happening, is asked to contact road policing officers at Dingwall Police Station by phoning 101, quoting incident 3364.

Police are asking drivers in the area at the time and who have a dash cam to check the footage.
