Police are appealing for information following a serious road accident involving three vehicles on the A9 south of Aviemore earlier today.

The collision happened at around 3.55pm and involved a black Volkswagen Transporter, a black Citroen DS3 and a blue Ford Fiesta near the junction for the B9152 on the trunk road.

Emergency services attended the scene and two people – a 96-year-old man and a 94-year-old woman who were the driver and passenger in the Ford Fiesta were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment for serious injuries.

The occupants of the black VW Transporter and the black Citroen DS3 were uninjured.

The road was closed to allow for investigation to be carried out but has now reopened.

Sergeant Alisdair Mackay, who is based at Dingwall police station, said: “Enquiries into this crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to police to contact us.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen any of the vehicles prior to the crash and has dashcam footage to please check and come forward with anything which may be relevant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2617 of 16 August, 2020.
