Edderton's play park is to get a makeover.

Edderton play park is in line for a makeover, following a successful bid for funding.

The village hall committee has been awarded grant aid from LEADER, Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm and East Sutherland and Edderton ward discretionary fund.

Highland Council has agreed to lease the play park - located behind the hall - to the hall committee, but the authority will carry out an annual inspection and also undertake grass cutting.

Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust (KoSDT) has been asked to progress the project.

Hall committee chairman Cameron Warren said: “The committee is enthusiastic about the development of the playpark and thanks go to the funders. Outdoor play is vital to every child’s development, We are absolutely delighted to have KoSDT on board to get the ball rolling.”

Edderton Village Hall Committee are delighted to announce that funding has been secured to update and regenerate the existing playpark at Edderton, located behind the village hall.

Edderton Hall Committee have contracted Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust to implement new equipment and refresh the area this year.

Funding for the playpark has been secured by Edderton Hall Committee from LEADER, Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm, Ward Discretionary Fund and Balblair Distillery. Great appreciation goes to all the funders.

The Highland Council will lease the area to Edderton Hall Committee, with the Highland Council carrying out the Annual Inspection and grass cutting throughout the year.

Cameron Warren (Chair of Edderton Hall Committee) commented: “The committee are enthusiastic about the development of the playpark and are excited to benefit the children of Edderton. We understand that outdoor play is vital to every child’s development, with great thanks to all our funders we can deliver the park for our village. We are absolutely delighted to have Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust on board to get the ball rolling.”
