A plastic surgery firm offering breast implants, hair transplants and facelifts is set to open in Inverness.

Alpha Clinic, with an existing base in Aberdeen, claims to be the only plastic surgeon-led cosmetic surgery clinic in the north of Scotland.

It offers a whole host of different advanced cosmetic and reconstructive body and face treatments, ranging in price from a basic £150 consultation to up to £7050 for a facelift.

The firm has taken over the former Maggie & Suzi fashion store premises at 7 Drummond Street in Inverness, just off Union Street.

The firm’s current surgical team of 10 is led by Thanassi Athanassopoulos, with over 20 years of surgical experience.

According to the company’s website, Mr Athanassopoulos qualified with distinction in medicine at Oxford University and King’s College Hospital London, before specialising in plastic surgery.

It describes him as an expert in cosmetic facial and breast surgery and, in particular, complex secondary revision surgery with .

He also worked for the NHS for 25 years in plastic and reconstructive surgery, specialising in reconstruction of complex skin cancers of the face, facial weakness and breast reconstruction.

He is also a consultant for the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital where he is responsible for reconstructive procedures in young children.

Other successes include earning the highest research degree Oxford University offers, the DM, Doctor of Medicine, after spending an additional three years at the Stem Cell Research Laboratory at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.

In recognition of the quality and contribution of his research, he received the coveted research fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the website biography says.

Having gained consent to renovate the unit for use as a clinic in November last year, the firm is seeking permission to erect two illuminated signs with company logos, one street-facing and the other side-facing.

The application will be considered under Highland Council planning officials’ delegated powers, with a deadline of May 10.
