It was a big responsibility for a little boy, but Torben Manners handled it with aplomb. The local youngster switched on the Christmas tree lights at Culrain and District Community Hall last Friday.
Piper Gillian Sutherland entertained the crowd at the event with a selection of seasonal and traditional festive tunes and received a hearty three cheers at the end of her set.
Other activities included a pick a bottle raffle, tree bingo, guess the weight of the cake and a wreath and hamper raffle.
Sutherland Deputy Lieutenant Christine Mackay judged the Best Christmas Costume competition which was won by Sara Pinder for her “Elf and Safety” costume.
Culrain farmers Robert and Anne Henderson built a sleigh for the event.
Those attending were able to see the hall’s new roof and internal ceiling which have recently been installed. Work continues to upgrade the electrical system in the hall.
