The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay made their first official visit to the Highland capital today in honour of the work of a charity renowned for improving young lives.

DAY1, based at the Fairways Business Park, has built a reputation for excellence in youth mentoring, with qualifications offered along with the nurturing of less tangible life skills for 14 to 17 year-olds.

The royal couple, in relaxed and inquisitive mood, certainly went down a storm with staff, volunteers and young people within Inverness Kart Raceway where the charity is based.

Here we capture some of the moments from the visit, which saw William and Kate applaud the charity's work while showing great interest in its ethos and success story.

There were also some light-hearted moments as motor racing enthusiast William suggested he would have loved to have taken on Kate behind the wheel, before their tight timetable prevented them from trying out the indoor track.
