The New Year may be over but Sutherland Sessions decided to keep the party going. And how they succeeded!

The music promoters held an Auld New Year ceilidh in the Doll Hall near Brora on Friday, January 12.

And the hall was rocking all night as people took to the dance floor in droves.

The music was provided by Ruairidh Gollan on accordion and Zoe Livings on fiddle. Both are well-known local musicians and members of the Sutherland Sessions committee.

An open invitation was extended to any musicians who wished to attend to bring their instruments and join in with a tune or two.

The ceilidh started at 7.30pm and donations at the door will help Sutherland Sessions hold further events.

Ewen Pryde, chairman of the Doll Hall Community Association which runs the hall, said: "It was a fun evening and everyone enjoyed themselves with the dance floor full all evening."

The Doll Hall is one of the longest established village halls in Sutherland and has a very active committee of volunteers and helpers.

Sutherland Sessions promotes traditional, folk and roots music events in venues across Sutherland.
