PICTURES: Plockton's third annual festive gingerbread house decoration competition dazzles judges
Plockton's third annual gingerbread house competition came back with a bang this year, with a record-breaking number of wonderful gingerbread creations entered.
The event hosted by the Plockton and District Horticultural, Arts and Crafts Society on December 9, had two categories for the festive creations, Gingerbread House and Anything But a House.
A public vote determined which gingerbread creations would be crowned as the winner, and event organisers were touched to find that every entry had at least one vote.
Hannah said: "The voting was very close, and everyone who came by marvelled at how impressive and clever each creation was – it's truly astonishing how creative everyone is.
"Once everyone has dropped off their entry we then open the doors to the public where they can vote for their favourite in each category. Our ‘Anything but a House’ category comes from the idea that people can create whatever they want as long as it’s completely edible! We also allow people to use gingerbread kits bought from the shops, as we just want to people to get creative and have some fun. As well as this, we have a few stalls for local charities, so folks can pick up a few Christmas presents when they come along.
"This is actually our third year running it and we had our biggest number of entries this year – fifteen in total! We will be hosting it again next year too!
"We also would like to the thank Plockton Library, Blythwood, Kyleakin Connection, the RNLI and also those who tended stalls on the day."
