PICTURES: Praise for hard-working Brora Primary Parent Council as school marks jubilee with community fete

Brora Primary Parent Council hosted a very well-attended jubilee event at the school field on Saturday, writes head teacher Dawn McKenzie.
The community fete began with Sutherland Schools pipe band playing which everyone enjoyed immensely.
A host of free activities were on offer ranging from football and garden games to bouncy castles with Brora Inflatable and Mascot hire busy for the five hours the fete lasted.
The younger generation enjoyed the teddy bears’ picnic and there were also jubilee related crafts to take part in. The nail-painting table did a busy trade.
There were lots of stalls to browse round, including a tombola, and the chance to buy a range of goods from plants to craft items.
Local charity Blue Highlands Bird Rescue had a stall, as did the Rotary Club of East Sutherland. Scottish Exotic Animals enthralled adults and children alike.
The hard-working ladies from Brora Hub took on the catering and Capaldis unveiled its new ice cream trailer which looked wonderful and did a roaring trade.
Local folks singers Jim Cunningham and Iain Sutherland provided musical entertainment as well as Strathair Ceilidh Band.
The turnout was excellent – and everyone was very appreciative of the work that the parent council had put into arranging activities and ensuring the venue was beautifully decorated
The weather could not have been better – glorious sunshine for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully the start of a sociable summer for everyone after a long time few events.
