THE long-running tradition of an Easter Ross ploughing competition got back on the straight and narrow after an enforced three-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Easter Ross Ploughing Match hosted at Shandwick Mains by kind permission of James and David Jack was a cause for celebration after the lay-off, giving ploughmen a chance to show off their skills once again.

Weather conditions were perfect but interestingly some of the competitors observed that the ground was drier than usual, which made things more challenging to get a nice finish to the ploughing.

The very best of Scottish ploughmen were on show.
