They have been presenting certificates to winners of the Lord-Lieutenant's Coronation Art Competition.

All of Sutherland's 16 primary schools took part as well as Edderton Primary School, and there were more than 600 entries.

Certificates were awarded to the winners in three categories - nursery; p1-3; and p4-7. There were also head teachers's certificates presented in addition to a certificate from the Lord Lyon King of Arms to all participating schools.

Major General Marriott said: "Our congratulations to all those who entered the competition and the teaching staff who supported them."
