PICTURES: Glenmorangie Distillery throws its doors open

Hundreds of people flocked to a special two-day open event at the distillery in Tain.

From the royal burgh itself to as far afield as the United States and Australia, visitors soaked up the atmosphere and and got hands-on with Glenmorangie’s whisky creation, enjoying masterclasses, tastings and the opportunity to fill and cork casks in the warehouse.

Manager Ed Thom led a number of tasting sessions offering guests the chance to spot the difference between drams as varied as Glenmorangie Original to Tale of the Forest and 18 Year Old.

He said it was an opportunity for people to see for themselves the pride taken by the creators of these drams and the skills involved in producing them.

Visitors got a flavour of the distiller’s passion for both tradition and innovation and its project to restore extinct oyster reefs in the Dornoch Firth.

It was part of brand owner LVMH’s Journées Particulières event throwing open its distinct houses around the world to the public over the same weekend.

There were also cookery demonstrations, food stalls and face-painting.
