A LIFELINE ambulance service is £2000 better off thanks to the head-turning efforts of participants in a road run that set out from Dingwall at the weekend.

Some 80 vehicles took part in the Highland Historic Commercial Vehicle Road Run.

The convoy, which departed from Dingwall Mart in batches, enjoyed a scenic trip west to Tongue, then east to Thurso.

One of the organisers, Shirley Mackenzie, said: “Dingwall and Highland Auction Mart provided the perfect venue with kind permission from management and we had a fantastic turnout from the general public.

“Our social evening took place at The Weigh Inn, Thurso where a fundraising raffle/auction took place.

“Thanks to everyone's generosity, we are delighted to be donating £2000 to The Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.”
